The town of Bodie was known as the most lawless, the wildest, and toughest mining camp the Far West has ever known. The author discusses the story of William Bodey, the local mines, the riches and lawlessness, Bodie Cemetery, and Boot Hill, the history of the camp up to 1956 (when the book was written), and stories of some of the most notorious residents of Bodie. She also talks about some of the fires that razed parts of Bodie. This is a wonderful, historical book about Bodie by Ella M. Cain. Shortly after this book was published, Bodie Ghost Town became a California State Park.
