“The Story of Early Mono County-Its Settlers, Gold Rushes, Indians, Ghost Towns” Book

$10.00

Ella Cain said that writing this book “The Story of Early Mono County-Its Settlers, Gold Rushes, Indians, Ghost Towns” has been a work of love and inspiration. “The lure and love of the mining camps are in my blood: they are an integral part of my lineage from pioneer ancestors. In 1879, my family joined the thousands going into Bodie in the biggest gold rush known in years. Here my mother met and married M.J. Cody, the first Land Office Receiver in this part of the West. I was born in Bodie in 1882”.

After marriage when she moved back to Bodie, she spent the greater part of her life there….that wild, exciting mining camp on top of the world. These are her stories. Historical photos are included in the book.
