$25.00

This is an Amberina Glass Moon and Stars Sugar Bowl by L.E. Smith. Amberina is a type of two-toned glass that was originally made from 1883 to 1900. Amberina was patented by Joseph Locke of the New England Glass Company and was produced extensively there. It was also produced by the successor company, Libbey Glass Company at Toledo, Ohio into the 1890s. The glass varies in color from red to amber. Amberina is made of an amber glass containing some GOLD. The distinct coloring develops with applied reheating and cooling. Today this color is fairly rare.
