This handsome box comes originally from India. It is at least 50 years old. The exterior of the box is carved.  I cannot tell what the inlaid portion is made of. It might be bone, but it looks far too smooth to be bone, so I am not sure. The inside is clean, and the material is velvety. The hinges are still in fine working order.
