Geodes and nodules may look like they’re simple rocks at first glance. But cutting them open reveals interesting colors and crystals inside. Geodes are hollow within, while nodules are solid. Both can contain crystals and various dissolved rock such as quartz and agate. This item is a nodule. Nodules begin as a volcanic gas bubble, like a geode, but over time, it fills in with minerals. So unlike geodes, the interior of a nodule rock contains no empty space. Nodule rocks are harder than the rocks that surround them. Nodules are highly prized, particularly. This Nodule was mined at the Hauser Geode Beds in California, near Blythe. We have many more nodules to choose from. The nodules were moistened to bring out the colors in the photo.
